HOLD YOUR PEACE
“ Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.””
Exodus 14:14 AMP
Sometimes the ONLY thing you have to do is shut your mouth and be quiet. This scripture dwells hidden so deep in my heart, and I apply to every situation. I’ve actually gotten quite good at it too. I have to be honest and confess it took some time to gain this confidence though.
But God fights for me! And because nothing is too big or too small for him, He fights for me in both things big and small. Having that knowledge, cancels the need to defend myself, explain myself, seek revenge or even wish bad things on anyone. Instead, pray for and about everything.
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Romans 12:19 KJV
My sons had their first football game of the season. In excitement, some parents got a little out of hand. It became a distraction to the team but most importantly to me, it distracted my son. I got my son’s attention and was able to tell him to focus on the game and not the distraction. Then, I became that parent who follows their child up and down the field praying. By the end of the game, everyone remembered why we were there, and coaches/ players shook hands, and at the end a meeting was conducted about having integrity.
I’m continually learning that it matters how I respond to situations. In the heat of the moment or your current distraction, you could choose to fight and deplete your own strength. But if you just hold your peace, pray, focus on and trust God, He WILL fight for you!
It’s easier said than done, but the more the Word of God gets hidden in your heart, the easier it will be to just
Shhhhhh……
And watch God be God. He doesn’t need our help anyway.
