LOOK UP

So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Today was a struggle but I got up, had my prayer time and had every intention to take my children fishing but the rain interfered. At least, I thought it did. We headed to Wal-Mart for groceries instead. It wasn’t until we were checking out that one of my children realized they had lost their wallet, which had a substantial amount of money in it. Naturally, we frantically retraced our steps to try and find it, but it was nowhere to be found. I was told to go to customer service to see if it had been returned or if they could have their associates keep a look out for it.

I had done all I could do so before heading out I told my son all we can do now is pray for whoever finds his wallet. He asked me to pray so I did. We asked God to bless whoever found the wallet and that the money would be used to meet their need. We asked that God give my son double what he lost and then thanked Him for hearing our prayers and answering them immediately. We currently live in small town where just about everyone is family so no sooner than we got home, we received a call that my son’s wallet had been found and all his money was still in it.

I immediately went to get it and returned it to my son. He was so surprised that they found it and so happy that his prayer was answered. We had to have a praise break to say thank you.

In that moment, I was reminded of all the prayers that had just been answered for me. I could choose to focus on all that I have endured, how hard it’s been and how much I’ve lost, or I could do what I just taught my son:

To look up, trust that God heard my cry and that He WILL give me back double what I lost.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
