POWER DOWN

If any of lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 AMP

Well, here’s my dummy moment for you. First, let me say that I am blessed to be able to work from home during this season of my life. I use my laptop for work and everything else. Needless to say, I need it. It’s very important to me and I take it everywhere I go. I even have a car charger so, if need be, I can work in my car.

Recently, the battery stopped charging. If I unplugged the computer, it would give an alert that the battery was low and soon after it would just shut down. As you can imagine, I panicked. I ran to Wal-Mart to purchase a universal charger to see if that would work. It did not. I was ready to take a trip to Best Buy to have the Geek Squad take a look at it but that’s an hour drive that I didn’t feel like making. Finally, I just put the computer down. It was dead anyway. I left it and walked away but something said to plug it in. So, I did. Later, I noticed that the light was now white and no longer red. I powered it back up and the battery was FULLY CHARGED!!!!

Here’s what I got from all that. I never shut my computer down. I leave all the apps open, and I just close the computer. That’s how I am with life as well. I never shut down or take the time to rest. It’s always something to do and I just keep moving. Often times, I don’t allow myself to feel what I feel; I just keep going. I stay busy. So, my mind is constantly going even in my sleep and just like that computer, my battery was low.

Your loved ones can see when your battery is low, even when you can’t. I’m so grateful for my support system for allowing me the opportunity to rest, for recognizing that I was on the verge of shutting down, for praying for me and for telling me the truth. Most importantly, I’m grateful that when I asked God for wisdom concerning what to do, He answered me immediately. I could have chosen again to just keep going, but I would have missed the opportunity He already had prepared for me where nothing was required of me but to rest. Instead, I was obedient and He exceeded all my expectations and gave me even more than what I asked for. For that, I will remain plugged in to His word, continually seek after His will and go wherever He sends me fully charged and gratefully me.
